I’m talking about the childcare centres – not the broadcaster.
I’m actually surprised it’s taken this long: I was aware of the huge debt loading they were taking on about three years ago, and it looked worrying to me. And then they ‘expanded’ internationally. And I know nothing about economics.
I have no idea why the public accepts for-profit Early Years. The shit would hit the fan for the same model Primary or High School – probably even Higher Ed (Not including SAE/JMC and the like – but they’re not government accredited).
I can go into a rant about how ‘good’ early years education (i.e. that which requires spending over profiteering) dramatically reduces socio-economic dislocation at later years, but I can’t be bothered Science-Webbing the facts… you’re more than welcome.
Oh, and I’m pretty sure Australia spends the least amount on Early Years in the whole OECD zone.
EDIT: Yes, yes we do. (Naton can lick my balls)
